Now starts the usual people on here moaning about it being a harmless drug and the Gardaí are wasting their time. And I agree with you but until the day it’s made legal, the Gardaí still have to try and tackle it, as it’s putting money in criminals pockets. Good work Gardaí.

@Gnik: The point that people are making is that Gardai are being forced to waste their time by our archaic laws. As long as it’s illegal they should always stop the flow of cash to criminals but wouldn’t we be better off freeing up those guards time and taking the financial opportunities away from dealers by decriminalising?

@Gnik: I know what your saying gnik but its a waste of time and money.just legalize regulate and tax better to put the money into the irish bank account rather then into the accounts of criminals.

@Lord Lucan: first off, most of the western world is NOT legalising it. Secondly, numerous people are arrested every day of the week for alcohol induced crimes within Sect 4, 5, & 6 Public Order Act. They’re not commonly reported in national media. Finally the vast majority of these type of operations seem to be going after people with vast amounts…most likely for organised crime gangs. There really isn’t that many cases reported of Gardai looking to get warrants to search a house for one joint. So the emphasis is on reducing the ability of OCG to make money, not in fact chasing the plant for the sake of it.

@The Throwaway: The amount of alcohol related illness and injuries and A&E beds and resouces shows how much more of a problem Alcohol is though. It’s something you buy when you are buying your bread and milk. It’s also at the heart of much domestic abuse.

Illegal cash taken from the proper organised criminal gangs. Well done Gardaí. Even if you are buying fidget spinner’s from these lads you are contributing to all the gangland activity even in a small way.

@Alan Flood: those boats down in Templemore don’t come cheap after all. Mind you, with thousands literally gone missing from Garda station no less, times must be hard. Still,we’ve had the Magdalene laundry scandal and now we’ve Templemore laundry keeping up the tradition of exploitation. Not that O’Sullivan or Fitzgerald will hear of a word said against them of course; saints all of them.

They Should start stocking it all up ( they’de have tons in no time ) So when the law is changed, and it will be, the Irish will be able, or at least have a headstart so to speak, to state that this was anticipated and we can just about meet the demand for the shit until we can start up our own growing farms…but for now, what X amount we seized in the past will generate enough revenue to help sort out the diabolical homeless situation, as well as the crime rate falling to almost fakkall overnight, ganster and drug related shootings, to nearly unheard of, &
The IRELAND that we are so proud of in relation to the rising and so on.. Is actually being controlled by the government that we all knew in the end would look after the people who elected them initially.
